Mrs. Trosien has been a guidance counselor for 9 years. She teaches the 5th and 6th graders, which she enjoys. Her favorite part about being a guidance counselor is being able to help the kids she teaches and being able to get to know them. In her work environment, she enjoys seeing the kids be successful, and she doesn’t like seeing the kids struggle. Her favorite subject to discuss in class with the kids is mindfulness. 6th grade guidance student, Hope Allen said, “Guidance is very educational and good for the mind. My favorite activity is career exploration, as I think that it is good to know what your future may look like.”
She would like to learn more about the mind and how our feelings work. After guidance class, she feels happy because she learned something new about herself. One of the skills that Hope learned in guidance is how to stick up for yourself. Another 6th grade guidance student, Audrey Hoomes, says she feels good about guidance. Her favorite activity to learn is how to manage your feelings. One of the skills that Audrey learned in guidance that can help her in the real world is how to handle her emotions when someone makes her mad or upset.
