Good afternoon, Eaton families! It has been a very gloomy day outside but cheerful inside with tons of learning taking place.
1. On Friday the Rocketeer will go home so please look for it in your child’s backpack.
2. Fundraiser Update: We have purchased two outdoor magnetic chalkboards for our outdoor classrooms, and they should arrive soon. We are in the final stages of gathering quotes to replace the slide on the primary playground, add 2 more benches and 2 more tables to the primary grades outdoor classroom, and are meeting with one company this week regarding our outdoor digital signage. Thank you for your donations and support this past fall during our read-a-thon and carnival.
3. Class picture day is Friday, February 7th. You can follow this link to go directly to SimplePix to order: http://prepayorders.com/school/ees12882
4. Monday starts School Counselor Appreciation week and we want to welcome our new counselor Dr. Brittany Sweet to our team. She will be starting on Monday. We also want to give love to Sara Harris who has been assisting our counseling program. If you want to send a card to either our new counselor or to Mrs. Harris just drop them off at the office.
5. We have a few volunteer opportunities coming in February. We still need 2 more volunteers for class pictures on Friday, Feb. 7th. We also need volunteers for the three days of candy grams Feb. 10-12 during lunch times. The Book Fair starts February 21-March 3rd and Mrs. Knies is looking for help during that event too. Lastly, we are doing a cereal bar for Eaton staff on February 14th because we “cerealsly” appreciate our staff. If you can help with any of these events, please sign up here: https://bit.ly/2024EESVolSignup.
6. Parent/Teacher conferences are next week on Thursday, February 6th. As you prepare to meet with your child’s teacher, create a list of questions you have about your child’s progress and take the list with you to the meeting. Check out the link on our website to jumpstart your thinking with some possible questions to ask the teacher about your child’s progress. https://5il.co/34k61
Have a great week and if we can do anything please reach out.

Just a little rhyme for the Loudon County School Board crew,
For leading with vision, and serving with purpose too!
In the land where the mountains meet the sky so blue,
You guide our schools with hearts so true.
With minds full of dreams and plans so grand,
You shape their future, hand in hand.
From the classrooms to the playgrounds, oh what a sight!
You make learning memorable from morning till night.
So here's to all ten of you, with cheer and glee,
Leading with vision, serving with purpose, we thank thee!

Good afternoon, Eaton families! We hope you’ve enjoyed MLK day with your kids.
1) We have added Instagram to our social media platforms so be sure to follow us there.
2) We need donations of Hershey kiss for next month’s candy grams and hot hands for our volunteers in the morning. If you can help, please send them to the office.
3) We have seen an increase in students using electronic communication devices, such as phones and watches, during the school day since Christmas. If students bring these items to school, they will be asked to power them off and place them in their backpack until the end of the day.
4) Reminder: we do not accept food deliveries for students during the school day from companies likes like Doordash or Grub Hub nor we will be accepting deliveries on Valentine’s day.
5) Our family math night is this Friday, January 24th 5:30-7:00. This will be a free event where students will explore several math activities based on their grade level. We hope you will join us.
6) We have a few volunteer opportunities coming in February. If you would like to help with class pictures, Bingo for Books, candy grams, staff appreciation, or the book fair please sign up here: https://bit.ly/2024EESVolSignup.
7) Parent Tip: This week’s parent tip is from the Tennessee Department of Education about understanding a sounds-first approach to reading. In this toolkit you will discover the meaning of common reading terms, how children show they are fluent readers, and the importance of reading comprehension.
